Boston

I’ve mostly lived my entire life in the Bay Area, save a stint in Phoenix and Las Vegas. I love living in the Bay and despite the exorbitant amount of money that it takes to actually “live” here, I can’t really imagine living anywhere else. Well, unless that town happens to be Boston.

My love affair with Boston began about seven years ago when I went to visit a cousin. It was an amazing experience. The food, the people, the historic sites, the art and museums, this town was speaking my language. It felt just like the Bay, but a wee bit colder, a gross understatement I realize. And ever since then, Boston has become a regular pilgrimage for me, making a trip back East at least once a year. I’ve quickly established old haunts and they’ve become part of the fabric of who I am. Lobster rolls anywhere I can get them (the West Coast knock offs just aren’t the same), chowder from Union Oyster House, a proper cannoli from Mike’s Pastry in the North End, cinnamon rolls from Flour Bakery, dumplings from East Coast Grill, the list goes on and on. And with each visit, new places are added, old ones are revisited and the love affair gets deep. It’s hard to not love a town that already feels so familiar and if it weren’t for the snow, I would probably be living there. Hey, I’m a Cali girl, anything under 65 degrees is cold!

So I know we’ve only just started and really only have just met, but Viva La Fork is taking this on the road back to Boston. Ten days in a city that is my second home with some of my favorite people. I’ve got some new places on my list to check out that I am psyched about. But don’t fret, I’m taking you with me...not literally, I’m not a billionaire (not yet, at least). I fully plan on posting all of the adventures while I’m there. Hopefully, the food coma won’t be so terrible that I can make a coherent string of sentences. But if it comes out as blah blah blah, look at this picture of my dessert, then I hope you’ll forgive me and keep reading. While in Boston, I also plan to get some cooking done with the family and if all goes right (fingers crossed) we can dive into that too. Lots to look forward to, lots of eating and drinking, lots of delicious photos and writing to give you.

Until then, Happy Forking!
